May through October the Fire Museum will be open for tours every Saturday from 10:00 AM -2:00 PM.  Admission is free!

Community Light update:

 

In 2013, we housed 39 people in our Rescue Missions.  Our free hunger feeding program fed a total of 14,076 meals! Meals are cooked twice a day, year round, Monday through Saturday.

 

 During this season of the year, many people in our community are in need.  If you would like to donate financially or by food and other needed items, you may send donations to the church at Firehouse of God Ministries, 306 5th Avenue in Sterling, Illinois 61081.  All financial donations are tax deductible.  Thank you and God bless you for your support!

 Items needed : 

 

Perishable and non-perishable food items, towels, washcloths, laundry soap, dish soap, toilet paper, twin size sheets, and financial donations for building expenses and utilities.  Thanks so much for your help!

Sat, Apr. 26 10:00 am-12:00 pm Voluntourism Service Projects including power-washing, painting, landscaping, etc. Volunteers will meet at Arduini Boat Launch in Rock Falls before 10:00 am.  Lunch will be provided.  1:00-3:00 PM RRDA Hennepin Canal Cleanup in Rock Falls.


Poverty Simulation -Thursday, May 8th 

Volunteers Needed!!! Community Relations That Matter, a subgroup of WeCAN, is hosting this program. The event will run from 6- 8 p.m. at Challand Middle School located at 1800 6th Avenue, Sterling IL 61081. A poverty simulation experience is designed to help participants understand what it might be like to be a part of a typical low income family trying to survive from month to month. The object is to sensitize participants to realities of life faced by low income people. A meal will be served from 5:00-6:00 PM. Please reserve your spot by April 21st if you are able to volunteer by contacting Franklin Elementary Schools at (815)625-5755 or lpeugh@sterlingschools.org



May 3 is Modern Woodmen Join Hands Day-youth and adults working together in the community beautifying the City of Rock Falls-this will last from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. Meet at 403 W. 2nd St. in Rock Falls before 9:00 am.

-A Free lunch will be served at the Fire Museum from 12:00-1:00 pm. 

The community is invited to attend!

10am-2pm Fire Museum Fun Day
